Restaurant Review: Pizza Edition

This past weekend Jay and I spent time in the city in a neighborhood we had never really visited when we lived there, the financial district. Most famously known as a place for buzzing businesses by day and a quiet haven by night, I wasn’t expecting much as far as nightlife was concerned, but actually have a new outlook on it after spending a night there.

After checking into the hotel, we immediately dropped our stuff off and headed straight to dinner at a neighborhood joint recommended to us called Adrienne’s Pizzabar. Having only visited the area a couple of times we inevitably got lost enroute to the restaurant which I didn’t mind as it gave me more of an opportunity to explore. At night the area is definitely quieter than other parts of the city but it gives you time to actually admire the beautiful buildings, public parks, narrow streets and rich historical culture such as the New York Stock Exchange (pictured above), Federal Hall and most importantly the Tiffany’s where Mcdreamy proposed to Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama!

Adrienne’s is located on a narrow walking only side street lined with bricks and many outdoor tables situated in between a row of restaurants, and at 9:30pm on a Friday night it was packed (so much for that dead area stigma)!

The pizza was some of the best I have ever had. The crust is very thin and crispy, and they don’t overdue it with cheese and sauce so you don’t feel as if you have to go to the gym for billions of hours to burn it off. We opted to split a salad and the “old fashioned pizza” instead of the standard 10 inch round pies and ended up almost polishing off the whole thing. Of course this also meant I regrettably had no room for any of the desserts which looked amazing! All in all I’d vote this place a must try.
